1984洛杉矶奥运会主题曲
歌名：Reach Out 欢乐通宵
演唱：[美]莱昂纳尔·里奇(Lionel Richie)
莱昂纳尔.
里奇，一生曾获5次格莱美奖、一次奥斯卡大奖及金球奖，唱片销量近1亿张。在洛杉矶奥运会上演唱了主题歌《欢乐通宵》，这首歌后来成为当时国际上最流行的单曲。1984年奥运主题曲是中国观众听到的最早的一首奥运会主题歌了，也是中国听众最熟悉的一首奥运歌曲。那一年是新中国第一次参加夏季奥运会。在我们的运动员实现奥运会金牌零的突破的同时，我们也记住了美国著名的黑人歌手莱昂内尔-里奇。
1988汉城奥运会主题曲
歌名：Hand in Hand 手拉手
演唱：Koreana组合
在汉城奥运会开幕式上，“Koreana”演唱组带领18000名演员高唱主题歌——《手拉手》(Hand In Hand)，将开幕式的气氛推向顶点。2001年4月Koreana乐队带着一曲《胜利》来到北京，为北京申奥助威.这曲《手拉手》由此成为奥运历史上传唱最广的一首主题歌。当时的奥委会主席萨马兰奇认为它是奥运会会歌里最成功的一首,曾考虑将这首歌定为奥运会的永久会歌。这首歌除了歌词的感人、旋律的亲切之外，在歌曲的中间，作者非常巧妙地加进了一句朝鲜民族的名歌《阿里郎》的歌词与曲子。这就保证了它在流行的同时，又因为那句鲜明的民族标签极易被甄别。
1992巴塞罗那奥运会主题曲

毫无疑问这是气势最为恢弘的奥运歌曲，极好地融合了欧洲古典和现代摇滚。
卡巴耶是西班牙首席歌剧名伶，皇后乐队的主唱Mercury绝对是摇滚乐史上最具魅力的明星之一，他的作品兼具摇滚乐的力度和歌剧的奢华高贵，是艺术摇滚的顶峰。摇滚乐真正可以向贝多芬叫板，也许就是从他的《波西米亚狂想曲》开始。
巴塞罗那拒绝了流行乐，回归了古典歌剧。事实也证明，传统的欧洲音乐的确更让人震撼。皇后乐队的作品常用做体育歌曲，颇具讽刺意味的是，那首弘扬体育精神的《We are the Champion》却是为歌颂同性恋所作。身为同性恋者的他也付出了最大的代价——生命，1991年Mercury因艾滋病去世，永远失去了在奥运会开幕式上演唱的机会，而卡巴耶也因为知己的离去，拒绝再唱这首歌。

《圣火》便是这样一首歌曲。在2000年悉尼奥运会前，这首歌便被推出，但却反应平平，而来到灯火辉煌、亿人瞩目的悉尼奥运会开幕式现场之后，它在一刹那拥有了一种博大深远的气质。
许多歌迷可能会更熟悉凯莉•米洛，但澳洲人更喜爱蒂娜•艾莲娜。在澳洲，平均每十人就拥有她的专辑，所以灵魂歌手蒂娜能在开幕式唱主题曲，而流行歌手凯莉只能在闭幕式上作嘉宾演唱。
约翰•夫曼是一位除了澳大利亚人以外，很少为人所知的音乐家。有别于以往的国际化制作，这届奥运会歌曲几乎全由本国歌手创作。
