《铃儿响叮当》
这首歌恐怕是最为人们熟悉的圣诞歌曲。可是这首歌最初并不是为圣诞节所写，而是为感恩节所作的。1857年，词曲作家吉米·皮尔邦德的父亲在波士顿一所学校任职。这首歌是吉米写给父亲的学生们，帮助学生们参加感恩节演出用的。难怪我们在歌词中找不到半点耶稣基督的影子。歌中唱道：“雪橇奔驰在雪地上，我们欢笑一路上，铃声儿响彻四方，我们情绪高涨，笑得多开心，雪橇之歌今夜唱。叮叮当，叮叮当，铃儿响叮当„„”明快的旋律、欢乐的场景、动人的童声合唱，使这首歌成为150年来最重要的圣诞节保留曲目，也是世界知名度最高的歌曲。
《白雪圣诞》
这首歌温暖深情。歌词大意是：“我梦见圣诞夜白雪茫茫，就像我熟悉的那样，圣诞树闪闪发光，雪橇的铃声在耳边响，我要写好每一张圣诞卡，祝你们圣诞快乐健康，祝你们圣诞瑞雪吉祥„„”这是一首取得巨大商业成功的歌曲，它是百老汇词曲作家欧文·柏宁1942年为电影《假日客栈》写的主题歌，获得了当年的奥斯卡最佳原创歌曲奖。由歌星宾·考斯比演绎的《白雪圣诞》灌制成唱片出版，销售量高达3100万张。1954年，好莱坞用彩色胶片重拍这部片子时，片名、歌名都改为《白雪圣诞》。
《平安夜》
这首歌沉静肃穆，是圣诞颂歌中最受欢迎的一首。它创作于1818年，由奥地利乡村牧师约瑟夫·马赫作词、风琴师佛朗兹·库柏谱曲。这首歌是在仓促中完成的：风琴坏了没法用，他们就用吉它伴奏。歌曲首次演出是在奥地利乡村教堂，随后走向了世界。这首歌还有—个真实的故事——在第一次世界大战期间的一个圣诞除夕，交战双方临时停火，战线两边的士兵打开收音机，收听国际广播电台播放的歌曲，其中有奥地利歌剧明星奥莉丝·舒曼演唱的《平安

是从商家云集的写字楼里飞出的歌——它恐怕是惟一一首商人写的歌。1936年，大零售商蒙格玛利·沃德公司的老板要求他的撰稿人罗伯特·麦编一套系列丛书供应圣诞节市场。罗伯特·麦写了一个故事，讲一只受人嘲弄的驯鹿最终被委以重任的经历。这本儿童读物销量几百万册。随后他的妻弟约翰尼·马克提炼了歌词，再配上曲子。1949年，牛仔歌星吉恩·欧迪的演唱使这首歌在国际上走红。歌词大意是：“红鼻子驯鹿鲁道夫，它的鼻子真可笑，如果你曾见过它，会说它的红鼻子放光华，所有的驯鹿都嘲笑它，不肯和它一起把雪橇拉。一个有雾的圣诞夜，圣诞老人发了话，鲁道夫的鼻子亮堂堂，今晚为我们带路吧„„”
《我想要的礼物是两颗门牙》
这首歌最早刊登于1946年的圣诞歌集上，词曲作者是邓·格德纳。60年代正是披头士乐队的鼎盛时期，英国喜剧演员多拉·波里安用甲壳虫的音乐伴奏演唱这首歌，使这首有趣的歌流行起来。它的主要歌词是：“我要的礼物是两颗门牙，没有门牙怎么说话，只要有了两颗门牙，我就可以对你说圣诞快乐吧„„”
《上帝赐福于你》
这首歌最具代表性。歌词开头是：“上帝保佑你，先生。不要悲观丧气，想想救世主耶稣已经诞生，在我们误入歧途时，他会把我们从撒旦的掌控中拯救，噢，安详欢乐总有时，安详欢乐总有时„„”这首歌最早出现在16世纪的英国，作者不详。当时这首歌在英国城乡流传很广。查尔斯·狄更斯在他的成名小说《圣诞颂》一书中曾经生动地讲述了当时英国社会的生活场景，再现了
