Unit 2
I have changed a lot since I moved to this new school this term.
I used to have many friends and be outgoing, but now I have few friends, and I become a little quiet. In the old school, I used to spend much time playing with my friends, but now I have to spend most of my time on my schoolwork. I used to have no interest in my lessons, so I usually got bad grades. However, now I become more interested in my studies, and my grades are improving a lot.
Unit 3
should teenagers go out with friends on weekends?
Recently I’ve had a discussion with my parents about whether teenagers should go out with friends on weekends. My parents think that teenagers should stay at home on weekends. They should go over their lessons. And they could have enough time to have a good sleep. They also think teenagers should help parents do some housework on weekends.
In my opinion, we teenagers should be allowed to go out with friends for fun on weekends, so we can relax more. And we can also share ideas with each other. What’s more, we can also take some exercise together to keep fit.
Unit 4
Dear Alan,
I’m very happy that you like talking to me about your problem. Here I’d like to give you some advice on how to improve your Chinese. In my opinion, you can improve your listening skills by listening to some Chinese songs too often or joining a Chinese club. You can’t sleep the night before a Chinese exam. I think you’re too nervous. If I were you, I would take a walk or listen to some light music to relax. Drinking some milk before going to bed is also helpful. You can have a try.
I hope you can do better in Chinese and feel relaxed soon.

It’s a school T-shirt, so the owner must go to our school. Maria and Sally lost their T-shirts. Could it be Maria’s or Sally’s? There is a hair band in the pocket. But both of them have long hair. There is a photo of Jackie Chan In the pocket. Sally likes Jackie Chan very much, but Maria’s favorite star is Sun Yanzi. So, the T-shirt could be Sally’s. There is a credit card too. Sally is the only person who has a credit card in our school. Then, it must be Sally’s school T-shirt.
Mid-term
Should students make friends on-line? Some people say yes. The Internet helps us make many friends. Chatting on-line, students can express their feelings and opinions more freely and even get help with their foreign language studies.
Others, however, think students should not. They say making friends on-line is a waste of time, which should be spent on studies. Besides, some students can easily get cheated on-line.
In my opinion, students should place their study, health and safety before other things. As for friendship, we can find it in our classmates and other people around us.
Unit 6
Music is important to us. It can bring us energy and make us happy. Different people have different ideas about music. Mary loves music that she can dance to, because she enjoys dancing. Jane likes jazz music. She thinks jazz is really cool. Tom enjoys rock music and dance music very much. He thinks they are interesting. Linda prefers music that is relaxing, so she likes country music a lot. I also like country music because it can make me feel quiet.
Unit 7
Dear Lido Travel,
My family and I want to go on a trip this winter vacation. I hope you can provide me with some information about vacations that your travel agency can offer. We’ll have a twelve-day vacation from January 26 to February 6. All of us would like to go somewhere warm. We don’t mind how far we have to go. As for transportation, please let us know whether it’s better to travel by plane or train. It would be nice if we can go swimming or take walks.
