1. I still have feelings for her. 我对她还有感情.
中文里说我们对某人有「感觉」指的就是对别人那份感情还在. 英文的用法也十分类似, 老美也说, have feelings for someone. 特别是当他们提到自己的前任男女朋友时, 常会说, "I still have feelings for her/him." 意思就是缘分未尽 , 心里上还是喜欢人家的. 举个六人行 (Friends) 里的经典名句来加深印象吧. 有一次 Chandler 的前任女友 Janice 来找他, 还说要在他家过夜, 那 Chandler 的现任女友 Monica 就反对啦, 而她的理由就是, "He still has feelings for you.", 更劲爆的是下一句, "Feelings can't go forever, but you can." (感情是不会永远消失的, 但是.. 你可以永远消失) 再举一例, 如果有两个人明明都已经分手了, 结果还在那里大吵特架, 你个爱情顾问要怎么分析这个状况呢? 就这么说吧 , "You're fighting because there is still feelings there." (因为你们的感情还在, 所以才会吵架).
注意一下 feeling 指「感觉」时用的是单数, 例如 "I don't have a good feeling about this." (我觉得这件事不好), 但当「感情」讲时多半用的是复数, feelings, 例如 "No hard feelings." (不要难过), "I still have feelings for her." 都是.
2. She is the girl I'm clicking with. 她就是跟我来电的那个女孩.
Click 这个字是个形声字, 原意是形容「颗粒」一声. 例如你在按滑鼠时不是会发出「颗粒」一声吗? , 这个声音如果用英文发音就是 "click". (我在想按滑鼠的动作就叫 click, 不知是否是因为其声音而来? ) 所以如果我说 "I click with someone. " 指的是什么意思吧? 没错, 指的就是两人「一拍即合」, 或是更白话一点就是指两人「来电」. 举个例子来说吧, 今天你带表姐去相亲, 回来之后别人问你结果如何? 你就可以这么说啦, "She clicked with that guy." 或是更简单一点, "They were clicking." (她俩一拍即合), 这样子你这个媒人就是很成功了. 跟 click with someone 同样常被老美用的是 "have
chemistry" 这个片语. 例如 "They were clicking." 这句话你也可以说成, "The have chemistry.", 这句话你可以理解成两人之间有某种奇妙的化学反应, 所以也是指两人「来电」的意思.
3. I bond with her. 我跟她有往来.
第一次听到 "I bond with her." 时, 你很可能直觉地认为这句话是指两人的关系很亲密, 至少应该是男女朋友的关系吧. 所以当你第二次听到另一个男生说 "I bond with him." 时,也许会吓一跳, 还以为这人是 gay 呢! 后来才知道 bond with someone
并不是两人有亲密的关系喔! 这只是说两人处得来, 像是朋友一样, 所以男生不但可以 bond with 女生, 其实也可以 bond with 男生啦! 所以 bond with someone 顶多就是 get along with someone 的意思. 所以下次如果是同性别的人跟你说, "We are bonding.", 可别太惊讶喔.
类似的用法也可以说, "I have connection with her." 同样也是说你们之间有往来的意思, 但是什么程度的往来端视上下文而定, 有时可以是普通朋友间的往来, 但也可以是跟「性」有关的往来. Temptation Island 里就有一段话值得大家学一学, "There was one connection with the girl I clicked with. I bond with her. But it didn't go anywhere." (有一次我跟一个我一拍即合的女生来往, 但却没什么搞头.)
4.It didn't go anywhere. 但是没有什么事发生.
"It didn't go anywhere." 是很值得学的口语说法, 意思是 "Nothing happened between us." 什么事也没发生. 比如说你跟一个美眉打情骂俏好一段时间了, 但就是无法跨越普通朋友的鸿沟. 别人问你有什么进展没有, 你就可以回答说, "It didn't go anywhere." 或是也可以这么说, "It didn't work out."
为什么说它是很值得学呢? 因为我知道这句话大多数的人听得懂, 但说不出来. 你可能会说 "Nothing happened between us." 但我想你大概不会说, "It didn't go anywhere." 吧! 以此类推, 你要问人家「有没有什么进展?」最口语的说法是什么 ? 想个三秒钟. 1,2,3 时间到! 答案是, "How did it go?" 答出来了没? 因为你说 "How did it go?" 所以别人正好可以接, "It didn't go anywhere."
5. Maybe I don't deserve you. 也许我真的配不上你.
Deserve (应得的) 是一个在英文中很好用的字, 它应用在谈恋爱方面有许多有趣的用法, 很值得大家学起来. 例如「我配不上你」, 英文就是, "I don't deserve you." 但是如果有人失恋了, 你可以安慰他 "You deserve someone better." (你一定可以找到更好的), 或是说 "She doesn't deserve you." (她根本就配不上你 ) 注意一下这里如果直接从中文翻, "You can find someone better." 听起就不是那么好了. 用 deserve 有强调这原本就是属于你的, 是你应得的.
此外在日常的会话中也常听到一句, "You deserve it!" 这句话是说这是你应得的 , 就是「活该」、「自作自受」的意思例如有人老爱脚踏两条船, 结果到头来同时被两个女人给甩了, 这种人不值得安慰, 你就可以对他说, "You deserve it."
6. We don't match each other. 我们俩个不配.
和上一句的 "I don't deserve me." (我配不上你) 不同, "We don't match each other." 指的是我们两个人不合, 或是说两个人不配.. 像是在穿着方面, 我们也常听人家说, "Your clothes don't match." 指的就是两件衣服不配, (例如红衣服配上绿裤子之类的.) 当然 match 这个字除了当动词外也可以拿来当名词用. 例如你要说某两人很相配, 你就可以说, "You are a perfect match."
7. She is physically attractive 她的身体很吸引人.
在谈恋爱的人通常会把他们的关系分成二大类, 一种是男生比较喜欢的, 肉体上的 , 英文里叫 physical. 另一种则是女生比较喜欢的, 精神上的, 英文里叫 emotional. 从这里又可以引申出很多的变化. 例如 "She is physically attractive." 说的就是她很吸引人, 特别强调是在身体方面. 或是你问别人喜不喜欢她? 别人回答, "I don't know, it's just physical." 这句话男生好像常说, 意思就是, 「我自己也不知道, 那只是生理上的反应而已.」所以当老美提到 physical 时, 你要能听弦外之音. 像是 1981年, Olivi Newton-John 有一首歌就叫 "Phyiscal" 里面是怎么唱的呢? "Let's get physical, physical, I wanna get physical, let's get into physical", 下一段就更白话了, "Let's get animal, animal, I wanna get animal, let's get into animal." 上下文一对照, 想要不知道是什么意思也很难吧!
另外也许有人听过 corporeal 这个字, 同样也是指「肉体的」, 例如肉体关系就是 corporeal relationship. 而相对应于 corporeal 这个字的则是 spiritual (精神上的). 例如「精神生活」就可以翻成 spiritual life. 不过这两个字口语中比较不会用到, 一般人说话时用的比较多的还是 physical 和 emotional.
8. I am emotionally unavailable. 我已经心有所属了.
Physical 强调的是, emotional 强调的则是精神方面. 例如我听老美说过, "I'm emotionally unavailable." 这句话就相当于中文的「心有所属」的意思. 因为虽然 "I'm unavailable." 指的是一个人已经死会了, 但是特别强调这只是 emotionally 的
unavailable, 所以这是说虽然你们还没有在一起, 但你的心已经是属于他的了. 那 emotionally cheat 又是什么? 通常指的是你实际上还没有作出对不起对方的事, 但心里上却喜欢别人. 也就是中文里的「精神外遇」啦! 各位知道吗? 美国的女生也是很爱吃醋的, 以前我的朋友只因为跟别的女生讲话时状似亲热, 他女朋友就跟大家告状, "He emotionally cheated on me." 天啊! 像这种女人我们就说她, "She is too emotional." (她太情绪化了. )
补充一点 available 在英文里可以指一个人还是「活会」, 例如我说, "I'm still avaliable." 就是说我还没交女朋友的意思. 而 "I'm unavaliable." 自然就是「死会」的意思了. 但有时会有结了婚的人戏称自己是, MBA, 也就是, "Married, But still Available." 的意思.
9. I'm not attracted to you. 你不吸引我.
"I'm not attracted to you." 这句话我在电视或电影上常听到, 可是说真的, 我常分不清楚他们倒底是说, "I'm not
attractive to you." (我不吸引你) 还是 "I am not attracted to you." (我不被你吸引) 偏偏这两句话意思刚好相反. 天啊 ! 不过呢, 后来我才发现百分之九十九的时候当你听到这句话时, 他们说的都是, "
